Gone: Indigo Bunting
Decline of the North American Avifauna - a study published in 2020 by the journal Science - found steep, long-term losses across all bird groups in the U.S. and Canada. The data gathered by researchers and volunteer citizen scientists showed that 1 in 4 birds have been lost since 1970 with a cumulative loss of 2.9 billion birds. Compelled by my love for birds and the fact that this decline occurred during my lifetime, I made these broadsides to celebrate the birds whose populations are dwindling and create awareness of their plight.
