House Rules: Quarantine
In the first weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic, my university was one of the first to shut down and move to remote learning. Within days, I was pre-recording drawing and design lectures for students now quarantined in their homes, while I was also quarantined in mine. In addition to shifting my teaching online, I was afraid for the health of my family and was faced with explaining these new challenges to my children. There was no toilet paper at the grocery store. They could no longer see their friends. We were disinfecting door knobs daily. People were dying. How do you explain this to a thirteen year-old?
I made a one-of-a-kind book amidst the confusion and questions of those early days in April. I titled the book House Rules: Quarantine and it sat on the kitchen table as a reminder of how to stay safe and manage one’s behavior inside and outside the home.
